Hola CD & Welfare Workers,

Today is our last class for the IT component of Meet Statutory and Organization Information Requirements!

From next week we will start working on the legal component of our subject.

The members of the class that have been attending during the last weeks of IT training have learnt a wide array of programs and tricks. We focused our time on the function of the computer, files storing, and simple network management. We also looked closely at Word documents, Power Point presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and Internet Explorer. Finally, we have been working for the last two weeks around the role, function, and edition of Blogs, blog posts, E-Group, E-Forums and, in today's class, wikis.

Iwould like to spend today's class on three exercises:

1. Firstly, you should edit your profile in the Wiki. There is an easy template that you can fill in whit your details, your favorite activities, movies, etc.

2. Secondly, I would like to start a Community Welfare and Community Development Encyclopedia.

As any other encyclopedia it would have entries for different concepts, theories, and organizations related with those two topics. Examples of these topics can be: Empowerment, Community Building, Community Health, Advocacy, Neighbourhood House, Double Diagnosis, Counseling, Child Protection, Domestic Violence, etc.

My plan is to start constructing this encyclopedia with your help and on this wiki. To do this, you will need to individually build a sub-page under the page Encyclopedia that I have already created in this wiki.

The name of your page will be the concept, theory, or organization that you would like to review.

Once you have created a new page, you will need to fill it up with a content - for instance, the definition of your concept or theory or the role of the organization that you are reviewing, images related with your concept, theory or institution, videos about them, etc.

To give you an example of what an entry of our encyclopedia should look like, I have set up our first concept: Community Gardens.

3. Finally, after you have completed the previous exercises, I want to make sure that all of you have completed the evaluation of Prepare to Study. If you have not done it, you will be able to spend some of today's class doing it, and I will be available for questions.
